Teaching Assistant – Full-Time 1:1 Support Role – Carlisle

The position involves supporting a wonderful pupil with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) who is autistic and requires dedicated classroom support throughout the school day. The pupil is a friendly and engaging child who benefits from consistent guidance, reassurance, and support to access learning opportunities and school routines. There are no challenging or aggressive behaviour concerns associated with this role.

We are looking for someone who is nurturing, calm, and understanding, with the ability to build a positive and trusting relationship while helping the pupil develop confidence, independence, and engagement within the classroom environment.

The Role Includes:

• Providing full-time 1:1 support for a Year 3 pupil with an EHCP.
• Supporting the pupil to access learning activities across the curriculum.
• Offering guidance, encouragement, and reassurance throughout the school day.
• Assisting with communication, organisation, and engagement in lessons.
• Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider school staff.
• Supporting the pupil’s emotional wellbeing and confidence within the classroom.
• Helping to create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

• Has experience supporting children with additional needs, particularly autism (school, care, or relevant support experience welcomed).
• Is patient, compassionate, and able to provide consistent support.
• Can build strong, trusting relationships with children and colleagues.
• Is reliable, proactive, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Has a genuine passion for helping children achieve their full potential.
• Understands the importance of promoting independence while providing appropriate support.
