EYFS Teaching Assistant (Part-Time) – Penrith

Hannett Hale Recruitment is delighted to be working in partnership with a wonderful and welcoming primary school in the beautiful market town of Penrith. The school is seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated EYFS Teaching Assistant to join their Early Years team on a part-time basis from September 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a nurturing and supportive school environment, helping young children take their first important steps in their educational journey. The successful candidate will work closely with the EYFS teacher, supporting children across all areas of learning and helping to create a positive, engaging, and stimulating classroom environment.

About this Teaching Assistant role

Job Details:

  • Supporting children within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
  • Assisting with the delivery of engaging learning activities both indoors and outdoors.
  • Supporting children’s social, emotional, and educational development.
  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive learning behaviours.
  • Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team.
  • Assisting with observations, learning activities, and classroom organisation.
  • Helping to maintain a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.

We’re Looking for Someone Who:

  • Has experience working with young children, ideally within an EYFS setting.
  • Is warm, patient, and nurturing in their approach.
  • Has a genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development.
  • Can build positive relationships with children and colleagues.
  • Is reliable, proactive, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Has a good understanding of child development and the EYFS framework (desirable but not essential).
  • Brings energy, creativity, and enthusiasm to the role.

Working Hours:

  • Wednesday Afternoon
  • Thursday – Full Day
  • Friday – Full Day

Vetting & Compliance Requirements

All applicants must complete our full vetting and compliance process, including:

  • Enhanced DBS Check
  • Recent, relevant references
  • Full safeguarding and registration checks in line with DfE guidelines

Contract: September 2026 - July 2027

Location: Penrith

Hours: Part Time

Pay: £14.50 - £16.00 per hour depending upon experience

Start date: 2026-09-07

End date: 2027-07-16
