Teaching Assistant – Full Time – Central Workington

We are looking for a committed and confident Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 6 pupil who has learning difficulties and follows a bespoke curriculum tailored to their individual needs. The pupil does not present with any behavioural issues and has a warm, friendly personality. They simply require a strong, consistent TA who can guide them through their school day, help them stay focused, and support them in accessing their personalised learning activities.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Class Teacher and SENCO to deliver targeted support, adapt activities where needed, and help the pupil work towards their learning goals. You will play a key role in ensuring the pupil feels secure, supported, and able to make steady progress.

Additional training and development opportunities are available for the right person.

Job Details:

You will be working closely with a warm, friendly Year 6 pupil who follows a bespoke curriculum tailored to their individual needs. The pupil does not present with behavioural challenges; they simply require:

  • Help accessing personalised learning activities
  • A calm, reassuring adult who can adapt tasks where needed

You will work alongside the Class Teacher and SENCO to deliver targeted support and help the pupil make steady, meaningful progress.


Key Responsibilities

  • Providing 1:1 support throughout lessons and daily routines
  • Helping the pupil access their personalised curriculum
  • Adapting activities to match their learning needs
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and small-step progress
  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff and the SENCO
  • Ensuring the pupil feels secure, supported and ready to learn

  • A confident, patient and nurturing approach
  • Someone reliable, consistent and able to build strong rapport
  • Ability to adapt learning activities with guidance

Pay: £14.50–£15.00 per hour (DOE)
