Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Carlisle – Full Time

Hannett Hale Recruitment is delighted to be working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in Carlisle to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA).

This is a full-time supply position commencing after the October half-term break and continuing through to Easter 2027. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across Key Stage 2, working closely alongside class teachers to help pupils achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting teaching and learning across KS2 classrooms
• Delivering planned intervention programmes to small groups of pupils
• Providing targeted support to children requiring additional assistance
• Covering PPA sessions and leading whole-class learning when required
• Working collaboratively with class teachers to prepare and deliver engaging learning activities
• Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
• Supporting pupils’ social, emotional and academic development
• Contributing positively to the wider life of the school

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• HLTA status or relevant equivalent qualifications and experience
• Experience working within a primary school setting, ideally KS2
• Confidence leading whole-class sessions and covering PPA time
• Strong behaviour management skills
• A flexible, proactive and positive approach
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development
